Before the correct coating system could be specified, Tor Coatings carried out a comprehensive free survey of the site to ensure every aspect of the project was clearly understood and all defects were documented thoroughly.

Following the site survey, the Elastaseal Z waterproofing system was chosen as it comfortably met both the technical specification and design brief, as well as delivering a 20 year warranty – something that Flagship Housing Association were keen to secure.

The project was carried out by Iceni Roofing with site support from the Tor sales and technical service team. To ensure the surface was properly prepared for application, the roof was jet-washed and timber kerbs were installed to support the insulation along the gulley lines. An arris rail was also installed to give a suitable 45 degree angle for the Torvap to be installed correctly against it – all of this was necessary before the 20-year Elastaseal Z system was applied.

There was a small issue with the height of some rooflights, so Iceni Roofing utilised a smaller insulation board around these areas which drained directly into the gulley, quickly solving the problem without impacting the overall efficiency and professionalism of the job in hand.

In addition to the comfort of having a 25-year BBA accreditation, the project is covered by Tor’s comprehensive 25-year single point warranty. During this period, we will carry out regular scheduled inspections to ensure that the performance is delivered for the client.
