Before the correct coating system could be specified, Tor Coatings carried out a comprehensive and free survey of the stadium site to ensure every aspect of the project was clearly understood and all requirements and areas of damage were documented thoroughly.

All existing vinyls were taken down and a full wash down of the roof was carried out before works began. Any areas where delamination or rusting had occurred were stripped back to ST3 levels of surface cleanliness and preparation before being spot-primed with RC145 Elastaseal Z metal primer.

After preparation, the 3,500m roof was to receive two coats of Unicover S coating, a fast-curing formula, tinted to shades that we custom-matched to the re-brand project. A colour matching process was undertaken, so finishes aligned with the client’s requirements.

Fast application allowed the team to apply Unicover S coatings to the roof quickly, efficiently and to a high standard. Unexpected challenges arose after the coating was applied as unforeseen temperature drops and a high dew point slowed drying time. Despite this, once the material had the opportunity to cure correctly, the contractors were able to access the roof and apply the vinyl, achieving a seamless and professional finish.

Backed by both Tor and, Tor approved contractor Architectural Coating Solutions, the roof sheets come with a 10 year guarantee against failure with Unicover S delivering robust protection alongside an eye-catching finish that’s designed to last. We will also offer continued support by carrying out annual inspections to ensure that the coatings and roof sheets continue to perform well.
